The Charles E. Boyk Law Offices would like to report that an Erie County driver and his four passengers were injured after being hit by a driver accused of driving intoxicated early Sunday morning. North Central EMS transported John P. Weaver, and one of his passengers, Tricia L. Weaver, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. Firelands Ambulance took Castalia residents Rebecca W. Weaver, and James L. Weaver, to Fisher-Titus with minor injuries and Sarah L. Weaver, to the same facility with serious injuries. The at-fault but uninjured driver, Andrew R. Dalton, was charged with failure to yield, driving under the influence (DUI) and being an intoxicated pedestrian on the highway. Troopers said Dalton refused a sobriety test, but is suspected of walking outside of his vehicle after the crash happened. Dalton was making a left turn from a private driveway onto U.S. 250 when he hit the left rear of the southbound vehicle driven by John Weaver. The collision caused Weaver's 2010 Dodge Caravan to spin into a nearby ditch off the east side of the road. After the collision, Dalton lost control, crossed the center line and went off the east side of U.S. 250 and went into the same ditch as Weaver's minivan, troopers said. Both the van and Dalton's 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck were towed from the scene. The van sustained severe damage while the truck had disabling damage.
