Castalia woman dead in Townsend Township crash | Castalia, Ohio car accident lawyers

We are saddened to report that a Castalia woman died Saturday evening in a two-car crash that injured four other people on Ohio 412 in Townsend Township.

Vicky Brummitt, of 6104 Parker Road, Castalia, was riding in the back seat of a Ford Expedition that was eastbound on Ohio 412 near Sandusky County Road 268 at about 6 p.m.

Troopers from the Fremont post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the expedition was struck by a 1999 Ford Contour that was northbound on County Road 268. The Contour, driven by a 17-year-old Castalia boy, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the Expedition.

The crash forced the Expedition off the northeast corner of the intersection and into a soybean field, where it overturned several times, troopers said. The Contour went off the south side of Ohio 412 and came to rest in a field.

Brummitt was taken by Life Squad EMS to Physicians Choice Hospital, troopers said.

The teen driver of the Contour, was taken by Life Squad EMS to The Bellevue Hospital. A hospital spokesperson said he was not listed as being at the hospital late Saturday.

The driver of the Expedition, Bobby J. Brummitt, 5609 Deyo Road, Castalia, and another rear-seat passenger, Willard E. Brummitt, of 6104 Parker Road, Castalia, were flown from the scene to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The front-seat passenger, Fay Brummitt, of 5609 Deyo Road, Castalia, was first taken by Life Squad to Physicans Choice Hospital before being flown to St. Vincent.

A spokesperson for St. Vincent said Bobby Brummitt was admitted in fair condition late Saturday, and Willard Brummitt and Fay Brummit were each admitted in serious condition.

All the people involved except for Vicky Brummitt were wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

No charges had been filed as of 10 p.m. Saturday, troopers said. The crash remains under investigation and alcohol is not believed to be a factor, troopers said.
