A crash between an SUV and semi tractor-trailer on Monday resulted in a serious injury and closed Ohio 2, just west of Port Clinton, for more than three hours.
A 2003 Ford Explorer driven by Kathryn Schmidt, was traveling west on Ohio 2 and went left of center, striking a 2005 International tractor-trailer driven east by Alonza Williams.
The Ford Explorer went off the right side of the road and into the ditch. The tractor-trailer traveled partially off the road and became disabled in the eastbound lane.
Schmidt was trapped for about 45 minutes and had to be freed by mechanical means. She was flown by medical helicopter to University of Toledo Medical Center. Williams was not injured in the crash.
