According to Jere Beasley, under the terms of settlement, $26 million will be awarded to the family of a young girl that was paralyzed after a drunk driver hit her as she was leaving a New York Giants game in 1999. The settlement amount had been kept confidential until a ruling from a state appellate court overturned a lower courts decision to keep the amount private. The young girl was two years old when she was left paralyzed from the neck down after a man operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level of 0.226 hit her.

The family of this little girl sued the New York Giants stadium concessionaire, stating that the employee's continued to serve alcohol to someone who was slurring his speech and was visibly intoxicated. The jury awarded the family $105 million, however the ruling was reversed in 2006 from an appeal. Before the case went back to court, the parties were able to reach a private settlement agreement. Before this private settlement, the family was also able to reach settlement with the Giants, the NFL and the drunk driver for a total of around $1.2 million. The settlement amount of $25 million with Aramark represents about 90% of the compensatory damages that were awarded in the original $105 million jury verdict. The remainder of the award amount is for punitive damages. As a result of the settlements the little girl will be able to have the necessary care for the rest of her life.
