An Ottawa County resident was killed in a
hunting accident over the weekend. Joseph Hartford, of Graytown, was shot and killed while
hunting for ducks, according to Heidi Hetzel-Evans, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The death was ruled an accident by the Lucas County Corner.
Hetzel-Evans said he was hunting with two hunters Saturday at
Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area, a hunting ground, and was shot around 4 p.m. His body was recovered around 6 p.m. by the Lucas County Sheriff's Office.
Robert Radcliff, an ODNR supervisor, said he could not provide information. "The status of the investigation is ongoing," Radcliff said.
