In our previous blog, we discussed a recent experiment performed by Car and Driver magazine that discussed the dangers of texting while driving compared to drinking while intoxicated.
Car and Driver had two drivers on a closed course drive under both circumstances. It turns out that Driver #1 had a faster reaction time to the "fake brake lights" while he was at the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.08 than he did while reading or typing a text message.
While intoxicated, Driver #1, 22, travelled an extra foot after seeing the red brake light, as opposed to an extra four feet while texting.
Our Toledo, Ohio texting while driving car accident lawyers understand that this is not a scientific experiment or an official study, but it is worth noting that texting while driving appears to be just as bad if not worse than drinking and driving. We urge drivers not to text behind the wheel, nor talk on their cell phones while driving.
Read our next blog to see how Driver #2 did during the texting while driving experiment. The results will shock you!
