Jeep Grand Cherokee dangers | Toledo, Ohio car accident lawyer

When Jeep introduced the 2005 Grand Cherokee model, they positioned the fuel tank in front of the rear axle. The redesign of the fuel tank has been carried over through each successive model. Due to this change, the number of fires and fire related deaths has dramatically decreased in accidents involving Grand Cherokees made in those years. The petition requesting the recall that was mentioned in our Toledo, Ohio car accident lawyers' previous blog notes that since the redesign, there has only been only one fatal fire crashes.

When Chrysler responded to the New York Times, about the fatal fire crashes, they said "the Grand Cherokees provided safe transportation and that it met or exceeded federal safety standards." They also said that it was "irresponsible and misleading to attack the Grand Cherokee based on the information from the federal analysis reporting system," calling the results in those reports "raw accident data." This statement is implying that Chrysler isn't acknowledging the design of the plastic gas tanks on the 1993-2004 models had anything to do with the fatal fire crashes that occurred.
