An Ohio Highway Patrol officer was hurt seriously early Wednesday when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that pulled out in front of him and went off the road near Toledo Express Airport, troopers said.
Trooper Joshua Bolduan, 28, was flown to Toledo Hospital with critical injuries after he was extricated from his cruiser. He was upgraded to fair condition Wednesday night, a ProMedica spokesman said.
A seven-year veteran of the force, Trooper Bolduan was eastbound about 1 a.m. on Airport Highway near Wilkins Road when a vehicle turned left onto the highway in front of him. He swerved to avoid the collision and went off the south side of the road, striking a sign.
