Ohio Turnpike Crash leaves Two from New York Dead | Toledo, Ohio Car Accident Lawyer

Two people from New York are dead after a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on the Ohio Turnpike near U.S. 250. Dead are Lee Scanlan and Desiree Marsh. They had pulled over onto the right shoulder, along the westbound lane, of the turnpike when the 1999 GMC Safari they were in developed transmission problems. They were on their way to Michigan to pick up a vehicle from Marsch's father and called him for help when their vehicle broke down. Instead of coming to their aid her father arrived at the post to hear the news of his daughter's death.

The crash occurred when Anthony Patyna, went off the right side of the road and barreled into the GMC, pushing it into the guardrail with Scanlan and Marsh still inside. Both vehicles flipped onto their sides. Patyna was driving a delivery van carrying Ford automotive parts to Avon Lake.

Patyna was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where he was listed in good condition as of Saturday evening. Also taken to St. Vincent was Casey Stith, who was a passenger in the GMC..

Troopers are still trying to determine what caused the driver to leave the road. The fatal crash temporarily closed all lanes of traffic for a medical helicopter to land, but one lane was reopened, backing up traffic for a couple hours.
