A 16-year-old Holland girl was hurt while riding her bike Sunday morning when she crossed the path of a pickup truck.
The accident happened just after 10 a.m., according to a police statement issued Sunday August 15, 2010. Police said the accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Lincoln Avenue, when the unidentified girl tried to cross U.S. 31 just north of the intersection.
Witnesses told police the girl was not looking toward oncoming traffic as she crossed the northbound lanes. She didn't see David Swiler, who was driving his Ford pickup truck and towing a fifth-wheel camper in the northbound lane of U.S. 31.
The girl who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Holland Hospital with what police called "obvious leg and facial injuries."
