Snow covered roads already causing accidents | Toledo, Ohio Car Accident Lawyer

The first snowfall is always very pretty, but can also be very dangerous. A Greenwich man is fighting for life in the hospital after a four-car crash this morning on U.S. 224.

Michael S. Poth, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was taken to Mercy Willard Hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was thrown from the 1989 Dodge Ram pickup truck he drove.

The other drivers wore seat belts and weren't injured in the crash, which occurred just before 6:30 a.m.

Horace J. Irvine, was traveling east in a 2006 Peterbilt semi truck on U.S. 224 while Poth drove west. Poth lost control on the snow-covered road and slid sideways into the eastbound lane, where Irvine's semi struck the passenger side of his truck.

His truck spun counter clockwise off the south side of the road, hitting a guide wire and telephone pole before coming to a rest.

Another vehicle, a 2000 Toyota Tacoma driven by Michael L. Williams, was struck by debris from Poth's truck.

A fourth vehicle slowed and moved to the north side of the road, where it was sideswiped as the semi truck rolled left of center and into a field. That vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was driven by Robert S. Evans.

Officials from the Huron County Department of Transportation, Huron County Sheriff's Department, Willard Police Department and Willard Fire & EMS all assisted at the scene.
