Two girls hospitalized following violent collision | Toledo, Ohio car accident lawyer

The Charles E. Boyk Law Offices would like to remind everyone to drive carefully in the winter weather. A Port Clinton High School junior was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon on a deadly stretch of Ohio 53 in Bay Township.

Molly S. Kubicek, lost control of her car at about 2:15 p.m. and slid left of center into an oncoming Ford pickup. Kubicek was driving north in a 1999 blue Volkswagen Beetle. Chase Johnson, of Lima was driving south in a black Ford F-250 just south of Oak Harbor Southeast Road.

The crash was within 400 yards of where Kubicek's classmate, Natassia Ramirez, died in a crash in November, and where Jonathan Pope, another Port Clinton High School student, died on December 24, 2009.

Kubicek was taken to Magruder Hospital and then transported to St. Vincent Medical Center.

Kubicek's passenger, Kenzie S. Payne, suffered minor injuries. An ambulance took her to Magruder Hospital where doctors treated and released her.

Both girls are listed on the Port Clinton High School Honor Roll for the first grading period of the 2010-11 school year.

Johnson was treated for minor injuries at the scene. No charges have been filed in the crash, which is still under investigation by highway patrol.

The truck came to rest off the west side of the road with heavy front-end damage. The Beetle, mangled beyond recognition, came stopped in the roadway. The collision -- along with firefighters' efforts to rescue the girls -- tore away the entire driver's side of the vehicle.

Smashed glass, plastic and other debris from the crash littered the roadway. Traffic northbound on Ohio 53 backed up as responders cleaned up the mess. Traffic officers diverted southbound vehicles down Oak Harbor Southeast Road, where a second, minor crash occurred Wednesday afternoon.
