Woman injured in Carroll Township crash | Toledo, Ohio Car Accident Lawyer

The Charles E. Boyk Law Offices would like to inform you of a two-vehicle crash on March 1, 2011 on Ohio 2 near Toussaint Road sent a Sandusky woman to the hospital.

Crystal Shipley, was at The Toledo Hospital recovering from injuries late Tuesday.

Shipley was headed east on Ohio 2 in a 1994 Mercury Topaz when at about 4 p.m. she stopped to turn into Dean's Drive Thru and Deli when her vehicle was stuck from behind by a 2007 Freightliner driven by Donald Vandermeer.

The semi-truck knocked the Mercury off the right side of the road, where it came to rest in a ditch. The car sustained severe damage. Jennifer Glucker was also driving on Ohio 2 when she witnessed the accident. She pulled over to try and help Crystal.

"I tried to help," Glucker said, tears welling in her eyes. "(Shipley) did not look good as I tried to talk to her."

The Ohio State Patrol officer said that Crystal was conscious and talking after the crash. She was flown from the scene to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, but was then transferred to The Toledo Hospital.

Vandermeer was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
